Hey Violet Guys My Age
Calum McSwiggan

Lots of news came out of last week's annual LA based VidCon, though, none more disturbing than an incident that LGBT YouTuber Calum McSwiggan described on social media. McSwiggan took to Instagram to make the charge that, while out partying after Vidcon festivities, he was jumped and beaten up by three men. His assertions were that it was a hate crime motivated by his sexual orientation. McSwiggan then went on to accuse LAPD of treating him like a "second class citizen" over the course of his ordeal.

On the incident, Calum wrote the following:

After one of the most wonderful weekends at VidCon we went out to a gay club to celebrate, and towards the end of the evening I was separated from my friends and beaten up by three guys. The authorities should have been there to help and protect me but instead they treated me like a second class citizen.

The LAPD strongly denied McSwiggan's allegations and have now formally charged the British YouTube personality with filing a false police report alongside vandalism charges. McSwiggan took to his Facebook account to further unpack the incident.

McSwiggan was held and released on $20,000 bail and will likely be in court later this month for the offense.
