With the Eurovision Song Contest looming over us this week, the UK is split down the middle; people are simultaneously optimistic and hopeless about the chances of our entry, experimental swing band Electro Velvet.
Electro Velvet is awful. We won't win. It's not politics, it's just that the rest of Europe have ears. #bbceurovision— Mrs Mellow Cake (@AliBonce) May 19, 2015
But the divisive opinions on single "Still In Love With You,", as it turns out, are music to the band's ears. Speaking to Digital Spy, the duo admit that they expected people to react on both sides, "but not on the scale it happened."
"It was an extreme Marmite song; people just love it or hate it," admits singer Bianca Nicholas. "Which is great for us, because you got people talking," adds Alex Larke. "I think I would have been more disappointed if people had gone, 'It's alright'."
"For it to actually be so divisive - polar opposites - it boost the views, got people talking, so we couldn't have asked for better promotion really."
Electro Velvet will be performing in the grand final in Vienna on Saturday (May 23rd). Will you be rooting for them, or secretly hoping for yet another epic UK defeat? Check out the video for "Still In Love With You Below" and let us know in the comments.
