The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

The world premiere for 'The Hobbit: Battle Of The Five Armies' was last night, and while we won't get to see it in cinemas for another couple of weeks, the studio has released a couple of preview clips from the final chapter in the 'Hobbit' saga.

We're sure there are some waiting with baited breath from the cliffhanger at the end of 'Desolation Of Smaug' and don't want any spoilers.

First thing:

Second thing: don't read any further.

So at some point (presumably really early in the film), Smaug is defeated and the Elves and Men all come for their fair share of the Dwarves' treasure in the mountain. This triggers a battle that gets even bigger when the Orcs show up to get their revenge on Thorin and his company. Everything we've seen so far in trailers and previews have covered the battle, so it's probably going to be enormous.

The first of the preview clips is a scene from out in the battlefield. Azog has brought his Orc army to attack the city of Dale - and presumably, the Dwarves' mountain kingdom afterwards.

Bard is leading an army, King Thranduil's riding his giant moose and there's plenty of CGI. It's gonna be interesting.

The second clip is a brief exchange between Gandalf and Bilbo, as Thranduil ducks out and Bilbo volunteers to take a message. It almost looks like he's on the verge of telling Gandalf about the Ring for a minute.

Bilbo's definitely found his courage in this adventure, if he's standing up to mighty wizards now.

The action of this movie promises to be on an even bigger scale than any other film in the Middle Earth saga. The original 'Lord Of The Rings' trilogy is pretty solid already, so whether that turns out to be a good thing or not, we'll find out when the final film comes out
