Scott Stapp

Scott Stapp appears to be having a pretty tough time.

Last week the Creed frontman posted a 15-min video to the band's official Facebook page, where he claimed that he was penniless and homeless, due to the IRS freezing his bank accounts.

Following his wife filing for divorce in October, Stapp was apparently placed in psychiatric hold for 72 hours earlier last month, after police reported he was exhibiting drug-induced paranoia about his family being targeted by extremist group ISIS.

Stapp has been posting several statements on the band's page (Since taken down) promising his sobriety and assuring that he would clear his name.

However, in a bizarre twist, Stapp has opened a Fundly campaign to raise $480,000 (around £300,000) to apparently work on his third solo album - as well a novel, which would be his first.

A hastily-written blurb on the campaign page states "Raising funds 4solo album #3. Using same team, Howard Bensen (Producer) & Chris Lord-Alge (Mix). At the same time, my first book in the fiction category. Need 2fund both projects". Stapp also shared the campaign on the Creed page, stating "Let's do a couple more projects together my friends".

Many fans have speculated that the page and campaign may not actually be the doing of Scott, believing that the Facebook has been hacked.

Creed had a rocky reunion from 2009-2012 after disbanding several years earlier. The other members of Creed formed another band without Stapp named Alter Bridge in that time.

So far the fundraiser has reached under $600.
