Vampire Weekend A-Punk
signs of sad

Ever heard of Seasonal Affective Disorder aka SAD? As the nights draw in and the weather gets colder, you'll inevitably end up spending more time indoors, often alone, and this might make you notice a change in your behaviour.

So how can you spot the condition? Well according to the NHS there are a few tell-tale signs you should be on the lookout for as the season changes...

1) Depression.

Giphy

This is the big one. Aside from the obvious low moods and "feelings of despair", other symptoms of depression can include tearfulness, increased stress and a reduced sex drive.

2) No Energy.

Giphy

Being far less active than you normally are.

3) Sleeping During The Day.

Giphy

You may find yourself sleeping more than you normally do as well as struggle to get up in the morning.

4) Cannot concentrate.

Giphy

Are you struggling to study? Focusing on reading or watching TV proving difficult?

5) Increased Appetite.

Giphy

There can be a particular craving for foods that are high in carbohydrates leading to increased weight.

That sound like you? Ok, here's how we fix it...

1) Get as much sunlight as possible.

Giphy

Even a quick walk can help, you'd be surprised. Sit near the windows when you're indoors too. It's all about finding the sunlight. Plus you might spy something interesting outside - everyone loves some snooping!

2) Get more exercise.

Giphy

All that stuff about it releasing endorphins is true - you may feel like death going for a jog but you'll feel amazing afterwards.

3) Eat healthy.

Giphy

Easier said than done but the more balanced your diet is, the better you will feel.

4) Avoid stress.

Tbh this is a great excuse to ditch that unnecessary work you didn't want to do anyway. Now relax.
