This is Ariel Winter. You may know her from that tiny little sitcom called Modern Family? Yep? OK!

Ariel has become the latest celebrity to fall victim to the horrible body-shamers that lurk around every internet corner. The hugely talented actress, and all round babe, caught a wave of unnecessary backlash after posting a holiday snap on Instagram this weekend. The family memento, because that’s all it ~literally~ is, featured Winter on a boat in a bikini with her two young nieces.

But in classic Instagram hater fashion, she was immediately branded as ‘asking for it’ after commenters flooded the post with lewd remarks and one user writing, “BTW, she knew what she was doing by posting herself in a bikini."

The comments eventually drove Winter to personally respond to the user, stating that she was "... not only standing up for myself but for all other girls out there."

Moments later, she uploaded another image that was accompanied by the most powerful clap back to date.

Who knew that an innocent photo with my nieces would turn into this? The height of a girl's skirt or whatever she is wearing for that matter, does not imply what she is asking for. It sickens me to think at 17 years old, a photo of myself with my nieces is suggesting that I'm "asking for it". I typically never give power to the mean things people bravely say behind their computer screens on the Internet, but this is for the girls who are constantly bullied whether it be online or at school.. You are not asking for anything because of what you are wearing- you are expressing yourself and don't you ever think you deserve the negativity as the consequence to what you are wearing- YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Celebrate you and don't let anyone's comments allow you to think less of yourself. Us girls have to stick together!!!!!!

Seventeen year old Winter has always been open about her body struggles. This past year, she underwent breast reduction surgery after previously saying that she has suffered from mental and physical issues due to her breast size for years. She also said that she is now finally able to start feeling truly confident about the way she looks.

I’m excited to finally actually feel confident and not just appear confident.
