Catfish And The Bottlemen Twice
Melanie Martinez Justin Bieber

UPDATE 16/05/16

It's come to light that Melanie Martinez never commented on Justin Bieber's recent Instagram photo. Writing on Twitter, Melanie confirmed that the comment, which sparked a lot of controversy, was in fact "photoshopped."

Seriously though, who would do that? *sigh*

Melanie Martinez has called out Justin Bieber for his new no-selfie rule with fans.

Last night Bieber took to Instagram to explain to fans that he can no longer accept selfie requests when he's enjoying his free time because, "it has gotten to the point that people won't even say hi to me or recognize me as a human, I feel like a zoo animal, and I wanna be able to keep my sanity"

As someone who probably gets asked for selfies all the time, Melanie Martinez had some feelings on the matter and commented underneath Justin's post:

"You decided to get into a career where you depend on fans. Fans made your career"

Some fans have called Melanie out for hypocrisy. Some of you may remember she asked a fan to stop taking pictures of her outside a fan event last month. Then there was the put-down of a fan who shouted 'I love you' during her concert.

Fans are asking whether there is much difference between that and Justin Bieber not wanting to take selfies.

We'd argued that there is a subtle difference between Melanie and Justin. Justin wants no selfies whatsoever, whereas Melanie just wants to be asked first, so we don't think Melanie is being a hypocrite, although we were a little surprised she decided to leave the comment under Justin's photo.

If Justin is doing this for the benefit of his mental health then we'd say he was doing the right thing. No selfie is more important than someone's health.
