Summer is upon us which means that festival season is just around the corner. Whether or not you've bagged your festival tickets or are waiting for the lineup of your favourite one day event, chances are you'll find yourself in some sort of outdoor setting, soaking in the sun and, on occasion, the mud. It's hard to stay clean and humanlike during these summer bonanzas, but I can assure you, these beauty hacks will have you looking and feeling good all festival season long.
Festival Hack #1: It's better to be over prepared than under prepared.
You will literally never catch me under prepared for any situation. Sure, a big part of festivals like Glasto and Reading are the 'rough' factor. That's fine, but still be prepared for anything and everything. Among your festival bug out bag essentials should include wet wipes, moisturizers, bug spray, travel size toiletries etc etc. You don't want to be the one caught out, borrowing your friends' tooth paste because you didn't pack your own.
If it's only a one day affair, still make sure you come equipped with your essentials (lip balm, hand cream, chewing hum, lots of cash etc etc.) It's not fun leaving and coming back all because you didn't visit the ATM or grab all your essentials before you came through the gates
Festival Hack #2: Become best friends with dry shampoo.

Let's treat dry shampoo during festival season the same way you'd treat it when you're running 20 minutes for work or school. It's essential. In those few days when you're becoming one with Radiohead, your hair might take a serious ass kicking--hygiene-wise. Combat that with dry shampoo and some innovative hairstyles to keep at that grime and dirt from accumulating in your hair.
Festival hack #3: Scale back on the full coverage.
If ever there was a time or place to scale back on the full face of makeup, it's definitely during festival season. No one has to tell you that a hot sun, a full face of makeup, and all the sweat your body can produce is not a good mix. Instead, reach for your favourite BB cream, a few swipes of mascara, and a tinted lip moisteriser for a look that isn't running off your face by the end of the day.
Festival Hack #4: Less Is More (outfit-wise)
I know I said it was better to be over prepared than under prepared but not when it comes to festivals and gigs in general. You don't want to be the person wearing a long flowy dress, flower crown, stack of 15 necklaces, a pair of wedges, faux leather bracelets, reflective aviators, Von Dutch trucker hat etc etc.
Wear something versatile, light, and fun. There really is no point in trying to be Coachella Queen at Leeds Festival. Ditch the wedges, heels, and maybe even sandals. Repeat after me ladies: W A L K I N G S H O E S.
Festival Hack #5: Your hair possibilities are endless
I know for the last few years people have been majorly obsessed with loose boho waves (think Vanessa Hudgens at Coachella for like the last 5 years). I'm here to tell you that you can do, quite literally, anything with your hair and you should experiment while on your festival journey.
Protective styles like scarves and headwraps can keep gorgeous styles (box braids, locs etc) in tact. Cool colours and up do's also give you one less thing to think about while you're enjoying your favourite bands.
