If you're Briana Jungwirth right about now, you're probably thinking about what a mixed bag of a year you've had. On the one hand, you had a baby with a member of boy band royalty. On the other hand, people still think your baby is fake and they will probably never stop thinking that.
Yeah, weird kind of, right?
Well, it was Mother's Day in the US over the weekend and what do you do when people don't actually think you're anyone's mother?
You post about it on the 'gram, of course.
The video is heart warming but the caption is even more tear making.
This past year has been the best and worst of my life. I was blessed with the most amazing gift- A beautiful baby boy that I grew inside of me for 9 months. On the other hand, I was scrutinized and harassed by thousands- which even included major media outlets whom all seemed to believe he wasn't real. I am beyond disgusted by it all. Being a new mom, I wanted to feel the joy and excitement and be able to share such a beautiful time of my life. For all of you who think doing this to myself and my innocent child is okay, you're highly mistaken. I also know that if it was said about you, you may not had the will power to hold back as much as I have. I will be strong enough to continue to embrace this journey, love my son endlessly and be kind to those who do not deserve it even if it's the last thing I'd like to do. Happy Mother's Day to myself. I'm proud to be Freddie's mommy.Briana Jungwirth
It's really difficult to imagine what Briana is going through as the subject of a really elaborate internet hoax/meme/conspiracy theory. Her first year as a mother was marred by a misguided social media delusion that has now put her in a very difficult emotional space.
It's probably worth noting that not all Directioners buy into the Larry ship life that has created this weird out of control conspiracy theory.
Accept it. You won't change the fact that Briana Jungwirth gave a birth to the most amazing human being whose father is Louis Tomlinson.— ◟̽◞̽ F R T ◟̽◞̽ (@TommoBabyboy) May 7, 2016
The video of Freddie babbling to Briana gets me every time I've watched it so much— Briana Jungwirth (@BrianaNews) May 9, 2016
Absolutely horrified by what Briana's endured over the last yr--I could never be so strong. Freddie's so lucky to have such an amazing mom!— ThisDayin1DHistory (@todays1dhistory) May 7, 2016
Briana speaking out about her difficult year is proof, yet again, that it's often easy to forget that celebrity lives are real lives.
Briana and Freddie aren't abstract concepts, they're real people. Briana, especially, is an adult who reads comments, sees the memes, and lives a life where people are questioning whether or not her child is a doll.
Hopefully, the more Briana speaks out about her experience, the more people understand what it's like to be a new mom in the spotlight and perhaps finally drop the Freddie is a doll theory.
