Following a string of well received singles from his self titled album, Nick Jonas' latest, "Levels", is a welcomed shake up of a signature sound fans have grown used to. "Levels" veers sharply away from "Chains" and "Jealous" for a more carefully crafted electronic sound.
Jonas exploits that late 80s electronic vibe to his advantage. The song's intensity ebbs and flows, while still touting a head bopping (and frustratingly addictive) melody.
Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" springs to mind right at the start of a pretty solid hook but a little Alanis never hurt anyone. The radio ready tune may be too late to be a song of the summer but it certainly has a late summer slow burn appeal.
