Christine And The Queens Saint Claude

Signed to Polydor Records (home to HAIM, Kendrick Lamar, La Roux), London synth-pop band Years & Years have topped the BBC's annual "Sound Of" poll, beating off singer-songwriter James Bay (2) and standout spoken word artist George The Poet (4).

Previous winners of BBC Sound include Sam Smith, HAIM and Michael Kiwanuka, so as always it's a pretty sure sign you'll be hearing much more from them this year.

But hang on, who are Years & Years? Hit play on their new track and we shall begin.

The band consist of singer Olly Alexander, bassist Mikey Goldsworthy and synth player/beat-maker Emre Turkme. Mickey and Emre met through, possibly the only known successful instance of this ever working out (there are some pretty weird ads to sift through).

They apparently recruited Olly when they heard him singing in the shower, possibly something to think about next time you move in with that girl with the intriguing synth in the corner of her room.

The band cite 90s R&B as a core influence, as well as artists Flying Lotus, Diplo, Radiohead and Jai Paul.

Bonus important/official Years & Years information should you ever encounter them: Mikey and Emre like to talk football but Olly does not like to talk football at all. (via) You're welcome.
