You know the drill by now, each week we bring you a new artist that you just need to hear. It happens every Wednesday, so we called it #MidweekMusic. (We're so creative like that.)
This week it's Lion Babe.
Let's get one thing out the way pretty quickly - Lion Babe are ridiculously attractive.
Seriously, my monitor is melting.
Right now their new single 'Jump Hi' is pretty much all we are listening to in the PopBuzz office. (Sorry Taylor Swift.)
It's seriously funky, all about jumping high and has the added bonus of a feature verse from Childish Gambino.
It also features a sample of Nina Simone's 'Mr Bojangles', which is always a good thing.
Individually, Lion Babe are Jillian Hervey, a singer, songwriter and performance artist.
And instrumentalist and producer Lucas Goodman.
If by this point you're digging 'Jump Hi', then check out 'Treat Me Like Fire', which just got added to the tracklisting for Grand Theft Auto V.
We're going to take a wild guess and say that Jill is probably inspired by Beyonce because her Twitter handle is NEXT LEVEL flawless.
Oh, speaking of flawless, you might recognise Jill's mum Vanessa Williams. She plays the incredibly badass Wilhelmina Slater in Ugly Betty.
When it comes to writing music, Jill keeps a journal that she uses to help her songwriting.
"Sometimes words will come out through the journal and I'll just pull them out and try to make a song. Other times, literally, all the words just come out of my mouth."
Musically, Lion Babe's influences include A Tribe Called Quest and 'Sergeant Pepper'-era Beatles.
They can totally kick it.
And we hope to hear more of those influences when they drop 'LION BABE EP' in December.
If you can't wait until then, however, here's two red hot remixes of 'Jump Hi' that will get you club ready.
