Kendrick Lamar's latest interview with Billboard is full of some weird little nuggets. He believes that the protestors in Ferguson need more self-respect (what), that people should lay off Iggy Azalea (our official stance: "lol, no"); But strangest of all, he believes that the Rapture is still upon us.
Yep, according to Kendrick, the biblical End Of Days, as predicted very wrongly to happen over three years ago, is still on.
"We're in the last days, man -- I truly in my heart believe that. It's written. I could go on with Biblical situations and things my grandma told me. But it's about being at peace with myself and making good with the people around me."Kendrick Lamar, Billboard - January 2015
Well, we're not here to poke fun at a man's beliefs - mostly. Instead, we'll offer some musical support, by providing a couple of songs that we think would make an excellent addition to any End Of The World playlist.
Pitbull - Give Me Everything
Released just a couple of months before the originally predicted Rapture in 2011, Ne-Yo's guest chorus on Pitbull's track where he croons "We might not be here tomorrow" seemed oddly prophetic. Luckily we all survived that one, but you can never be too careful.
Kendrick Lamar - Poetic Justice (ft. Drake)
If you can't imagine Kendrick jigging along to his own track while the world burns around him, you're wrong.
R.E.M. - It's The End Of The World As We Know It
Because of course. This may be the last time we'll ever get to jam out to this song without a trace of irony.
Wycleff Jean - Apocalypse (ft. Refugee All Stars)
Just in case the Four Horsemen show up, Wycleff's got you covered with this classic.
Semisonic - Closing Time
Nowadays this song is mostly popular for trying to kick people out of pubs at 1am, but it would also be suitable for, y'know, when we all have to repent our sins and ascend-slash-perish.
Iggy Azalea - The Last Song
Because who else's music do you imagine blaring from the depths of Hell, as it swallows the Earth after all the righteous have left? Also Kendrick's apparently a fan so it fits.
