Panic! At The Disco are in town this week and stopped off at Brixton Academy for a victorious sold-out show.

And we were there to capture all the action.

Here's what went down.

1) There Were Lots Of New Tunes

Opening with the "Rock Lobster"-sampling "Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time" and closing with "Emperor's New Clothes", the crowd already had the lyrics to all the new tunes memorised, almost drowning out Brendon and co. with their impassioned singalongs. "Hallelujah" received a particularly enthusiastic welcome, the gospel breakdown turning the room into a pop punk church. Not a bad thing.

2) And A Few Classics

While the focus was obviously on the imminent release of Death Of A Bachelor, the set was largely made up of material from Vice And Virtues and Too Weird To Live... as well as Pretty. Odd. single "Nine In The Afternoon" and early favourites "Time To Dance", "Lying Is The Most Fun..." and, of course, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies". The reliance on more recent albums, and the huge reaction from the crowd to tracks like "Nicotine" and "Ready To Go", show just how far the band have evolved from their roots in the emo scene a decade ago.

3) They Paid Their Respects To David Bowie

Mid-way through the now traditional cover of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", Brendon added a short burst of "All You Pretty Things", visibly emotional afterwards.

The pop legend was Brixton-born and a mural to the man was set up merely metres away from the venue. As the tweet says, all merch sales from the night will be donated to Cancer Research charities.

4) Brendon Kept His Shirt On

For the first time ever. No backflip either but, hey, with a show this good you can't really complain can you?

(UPDATE: OK, fine, he did do a backflip. Blinked and missed it. Was clearly blinded by Brendon's brilliance. Or something.)

And that was it. Brendon will be back in the UK for Slam Dunk in May and, as you well know, the band's fifth album is released this coming Friday. Read our track by track review here.

Catch you again next time guys!
