Wristbands Header

Everybody knows the post festival wristband collection is always the hottest Back-To-School or college accessory. How many can you collect in one summer? And how long can you last without them getting too frayed to carry on with your life? (Answer: the limit does not exist.)

Sadly, we're here to burst your what's left of your post-summer festival bubble. We really do hate to be the barer of bad news but we're about to confirm your suspicions.

Post-festival wristbands are FILTHY.

Yep. An Australian radio show enlisted the help of a scientist to work out just exactly how filthy those wristbands on our arms are. Not that we need actual scientists to tell us that - we know, we get it! Hands that've been dipped in the mud, covered in cider and sweat from the crowd. Not even the showers we take every morning can manage to save them from impending bacterial doom.

Dr Nick, the scientist in question, tested three wristbands from 2009, 2010 and 2016. He incubated them for two days and found that there was a sh*t load of bacteria ALL over them. The one from 2010 had 600 million bacteria on it and the 2016 one was covered in 80,000.

The bacteria in question? There's some that can cause food poisoning, some that can infect wounds and even more that you could probably do without.

Watch the grizzly results of the test below:

While it's not known if the bacteria from the wristband can straight up cause an infection, it's better to be safe than sorry - especially after seeing those results - right?

Cut 'em off, ya lil nasties!
