Ariana Grande ft. Nicki Minaj Side To Side
John Legend & Common

Singer-songwriter John Legend has teamed up with rapper Common to produce "Glory", a new single for the soundtrack of upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. biopic "Selma".

Legend's gospel chorus adds a haunting reminisce of the King-era Civil Rights Movement, and combined with Common's lyrics such as "That's why Rosa sat on the bus! That's why we walk through Ferguson with our hands up!" creates an emotionally charged blend that references the events of "Selma", as well as the recent civil unrest across the United States.

It's a powerful message that honours the efforts of marchers of the past, and will hopefully inspire those seeking justice today.

"No-one can win the war individually; it takes the wisdom of the elders, the young people's energy."

The first trailer for "Selma" was released with much acclaim last week - just days after protests in Ferguson reached a new peak, as Darren Wilson received no indictment for the killing of Mike Brown.
