If Jay-Z buying a Swedish streaming site isn't proof that he is literally Lucious Lyon from Empire then I don't know what is.
If you thought you could listen to music without putting money in Jay-Z's pockets then that's all about to change very quickly.
News broke yesterday that Jay-Z had acquired Swedish streaming firm Aspiro. Under the Aspiro umbrella sits Tidal and WiMP HiFi—two European based streaming services that fit nicely into the digital lifestyle empire Jay-Z is quietly building.
Jay-Z reportedly spent $56 million on the deal.
Last month Jay-Z revealed the launch of a management company called Three Six Zero Entertainment. This all means that Jay-Z has holdings in sports, entertainment, beauty, music, digital, lifestyle and restaurants.
