Meet Sam Harper, who goes by the stage name of Harper and basically makes the dark, delicious pop music that you won't be able to stop listening to in 2015.
Before we continue, hit play on her latest release, "Animal".
Harper was born in Bristol, brought up mostly in Wales, and now resides in East London, because, well, why not?
(Here's a map of some famous East London landmarks.)
It's still early days for the singer who kind of reminds us a lot of Lorde. She recently released the Velvet EP as a free download and it was accompanied by a video for the title track.
The brooding, atmospheric ballad attracted some pretty amazing reviews.
Resting on a melancholic piano part allows Harper to let her vocal come to the fore, and what a vocal it is: clear, almost choral in tone, imbued with a level of emotion that sits just under the surface, demonstrating the kind of control most singers would kill for.Wonderland
While pop informs most of Harper's music, it's clear that inspirations from her formative years, like Thom Yorke, Sia and Bjork, also run through her music.
Take a listen to her full EP and you'll soon tell that most of Harper's lyrics are inspired by evocative tales of love and loss. We've all been there.
She's signed to the record label ICU, which recently launched a pretty pioneering partnership with West Ham United football club.
That means you can see Harper performing at West Ham's Boleyn Ground before games this season. Weird, but kinda cool.
"ICU is a great label to work with, providing the whole team - me, Ray and Ashton - with the vision to make our album a great success. When you're surrounded by people like them, your self-belief just keeps on building up. Who knows what we could achieve?"Harper
