Fetty Wap is the up and coming rapper whose success story you can actually be happy about. The Patterson, New Jersey native first started gaining traction for the oh-so-ubiquitous "Trap Queen" following a Rihanna stamp of approval.
And, of course, you don't just get a Rihanna co-sign and remain obscure.
Fast forward a few months and Fetty Wap has been cosigned by the likes of Drake, Kanye, Fall Out Boy, Ed Sheeran and Azealia Banks. To get remixed by some of the biggest names in the industry is a big feat especially when Fetty only started considering music as a career in 2013. Last year he was tapped as one to watch following his hugely catchy first single.
But where Fetty Wap goes, questions about his distinctive eye aren't far off.
When I was little I got into a little accident and it gave me congenital glaucoma in both eyes. The doctor saved one, I was blessed to still have my vision.Fetty Wap
As far as "Trap Queen" goes, it's infectious, well paced, speaks to the trap stars inside all of us. Fetty's follow up to "Trap Queen" was good, of course, but it became great the moment Drake hopped on the remix.
You'd likely be hard pressed to find a musician who has been so utterly embraced by the rap and hip-hop community after being in it for such a short amount of time.
Fetty's Drake collaboration speaks for itself.
I'm just a nobody compared to Drake, and he still actually asked me, 'Is it cool if I do a remix?' And even the way he said it—more like, 'Can I bless it?' He was thanking me for putting him on the remix, and I'm trying to tell him like, 'No, thank you. You don't understand what you're doing for me.' He's definitely a very, very, very, very humble person.Fetty Wap on Drake
As far as summer jams go, if didn't already know, #Summer2k15 might just be the summer of Fetty.
