Lawyers at a class action lawsuit in California have told jurors that between the years of 2007 and 2009, Apple deleted songs that had been downloaded from competitor sites from users' iPods.
One consumer lawyer said to Apple, "You guys decided to give them the worst possible experience."
Apple argues that the music was deleted only to protect users from hackers. Security director Augustin Farrugia said that "the system was totally hacked" and a prompt given to users to restore factory settings was only put in place to resolve the threat to the system.
The lawsuit goes back over a decade. This week a 2011 deposition made by Steve Jobs is expected to be played at trial.
