Imagine if every time you asked Siri to 'open the pod bay doors' or 'find hot singles', there was another person on the other end rolling around the floor and groaning.
That's what CalArts animator Yonatan Tal set out to do in this short film titled 'The Voice'. It imagines the iPhone's speech recognising assistant as more than just a program and a soothing voice - instead, Siri is literally a little living microphone with hopes and dreams and a thing for Joaquin Phoenix with a moustache. And every minute of every day she has to deal with stupid commands like "Is it raining?" and "Poop."
It gets a little dark and sad - until one iPhone user sees beyond the program and helps Siri understand her true value.
Give the short a watch below, and next time you want to open Siri and ask something like "what does the fox say?" maybe have some second thoughts.
